Getting Started
What is a JoyPak?
A JoyPak is a monthly gift for young people with in-depth Bible
lessons and entertaining learning activities. Each month, we will
mail a JoyPak! to your sponsored child containing:
- A Bible lesson and fun activities to reinforce the lesson (view
samples)
- A photo-quality keepsake of the memory verses
- A craft project or other age-appropriate item
- Parent/Guardian participation ideas
- Your eNotecard (optional): a printed note written by you
each month that fits into the child's keepsake album. This
personal touch will help you build a stronger relationship with
the child.
What is a Welcome Kit?
Welcome Kits introduce your sponsored child to the JoyPaks!
Program, and contain the tools that will let them enjoy their
monthly JoyPaks! Each Welcome Kit contains:
- A NKJV Bible (Deluxe Welcome Kits include an
age-appropriate study bible; Preschooler's Deluxe Welcome Kit
includes The Preschoolers Bible and 3-CD Set)
- A
bookmark
- A Photo Album that will hold the decorative prints of Bible
verses included in each month's kit
- JoyPaks! Pencil
- A pencil sharpener (not included in preschool kits)
- Art Supplies (for projects included periodically
in monthly mailings)
- A drawstring backpack
- Introductory letter from you to the child
- Parent/Guardian notification letter
What topics will be covered in the JoyPaks?
JoyPaks! are designed to help young people to trust, understand,
and live by the Bible. Therefore, the first lessons discuss the
reliability of the Bible. This foundation is followed by an
introduction to the Bible, including the books of the Bible, how to
study the Bible, and rules for interpreting scriptures.
Subsequent JoyPaks! will explain what the Bible says about
different topics (God, Jesus, prayer, creation, etc.).
Every JoyPak also includes a presentation of the gospel,
explaining how a person can have peace with God through a
relationship with Jesus Christ.
We created two slogans for
JoyPaks!. "Helping You Reach the Young People You Love" is directed
toward the adults who sponsor children in the program. Our Youth
slogan reminds children of the overall purpose for the program:

The three capitalized
words refer to Jesus Christ, based on the following verses:
Jesus said to him,
"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one
comes to the Father except through Me.
John 14:6 NKJV
"Greater love has
no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends.
You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. No
longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what
his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all
things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you."
John 15:13-15 NKJV
Our primary objective is to convey
the gospel of Jesus Christ as revealed in the 66 books of the Bible,
and to stir the hearts of these children with the hope of the
gospel.
Are there JoyPaks! for different age groups?
The first JoyPaks! are for children between 8 and 12 years old,
and for preschoolers. In the near future, we will release additional subscriptions for
young people of all ages, from preschoolers to college students.
Each JoyPak! will have age appropriate lessons and activities.
How can JoyPaks! help me build a stronger relationship
with my sponsored child?
The JoyPaks! program includes a few special touches that will
give each child a personalized experience and connect each child to
his or her sponsor. For example:
- The welcome kit includes a personalized photo page for the
child's album
- We will send you a free note card kit that allows you to
write notes to your sponsored child, and we will include them
periodically in monthly mailings.
- Your name appears on each Monthly JoyPaks! envelope or
package.
- After the child completes the foundational Bible lessons, you
can select JoyPaks! geared towards his or her special interests
(e.g., music, sports, photography)
Can I use JoyPaks for my own children?
JoyPaks! can also be an important tool for sharing God's truth
with your children at home. In this case, we recommend that you
spend time each month discussing the lesson with your child, and
helping your son or daughter to memorize the monthly verse. JoyPaks!
can be a valuable resource as you strive to learn and apply Biblical
truth in your family.
Parental Involvement
Will the child's parents have to approve the subscription?
Yes. The welcome kit will include a letter telling the parent
about the program and who has purchased the JoyPaks! subscription.
If the parent chooses to cancel the subscription, they will contact
ThingsEternal directly and we will process the cancellation. The
child may keep the welcome kit but will not receive any mailings
after the cancellation.
Does the child's parent or guardian need to be involved?
JoyPaks! is a self-contained program. With the exception of most preschoolers and pre-readers, the
child can usually complete the
packet themselves. There will be little or no financial or time
responsibility on the child's family. For example, bibles, crayons,
and any necessary postage are always included in the welcome kit or
monthly mailings.
At the same time, parent involvement enriches almost any learning
experience. If a parent or guardian is willing and able to read with
the child or otherwise participate, the child will likely benefit
from their involvement.
JoyPaks! and Special Products
Can I send gifts to children that I have not sponsored?
JoyPaks! special gifts are designed to supplement the JoyPaks
program. However, they can also stand alone. For example, you may
wish to purchase a New Believer gift for your own child, or send a
Christmas Gift to a non-sponsored child in your family.
What JoyPaks! will the child receive after the initial series?
After your sponsored child has completed the foundational
JoyPaks, you will be able to select from available options for the
child's age group and interests.
What JoyPaks! will I be able to purchase in the future?
New JoyPaks! will be made available in the coming months. Some
will be customized for different age groups, topics (evangelism,
bible study, character traits, etc.) and skill sets (writing,
reading, photography, art, etc.). You can choose JoyPaks! that
convey breadth or depth of knowledge and foster the child's specific
talents and interests.
